Honesty about Sexual Abuse & Trauma with The Attachment Nerd
In today's episode Eli Harwood and Jen openly talk about sexual trauma and abuse occurring within our community of children with special needs. Yes, it happens. And, Eli is very honest about how we can't control everything that happens but we can prepare our children and ourselves in the very best ways possible.
Eli talks about the 3 most common areas that sexual violence/abuse can happen. How we can minimize the chances and increase the confidence within ourselves and our children. She gives us lots of usable phrases and responses to use to prepare and ways in which we can talk about things after we suspect something may have happened.
We know this isn't an easy topic. We know it is messy. But, talking about the mess is a commitment that Jen made in the beginning of 2023. So, here we go!
